Interdisciplinary Conference on Martial Arts Studies

La Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México y Arashi Dojo, a través del Círculo de Estudios sobre Budo, invitan.

Instructors and practitioners of martial arts who have conducted research or developed rigorous theoretical reflections on martial arts are invited to participate in this conference. Submissions are welcome from the following disciplines (among others):

Presentation Formats

Paper Presentations
Participants will have 20 minutes to present an original academic paper on any topic related to martial arts. Papers must demonstrate scholarly rigor; preference will be given to those based on research or well-developed theoretical analysis.

Roundtables and Debates
Proposals are also welcome for roundtables or debate sessions involving up to four participants. Each session may last a maximum of 90 minutes, including presentation/discussion time and a Q&A segment.

Book Presentations
We will also host book presentations related to martial arts, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes and up to three presenters per session.

Important Dates

Proposal submission deadline: January 30, 2026 (no extensions will be granted)

Acceptance notifications: February 12, 2026 (for Mexican participants)

For international participants: Acceptance letters will be issued within two days of receiving the paper, to facilitate travel and visa arrangements.

Venue and Schedule
The conference will be held from April 8 to 10, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México, San Lorenzo Tezonco Campus (room to be confirmed).
​
A cultural event and a sayonara party are planned for Saturday, April 11, 2026 (details to be confirmed).

Participation in the conference is free of charge. However, voluntary donations are welcome, and we are currently seeking sponsors and co-organizers.
Please note that the cultural event and the sayonara party will involve a separate cost.
All participants will receive an official certificate of participation with curricular value.
